As you leave from Negombo to Kandy you may stop in Chilaw to explore the historical temples of Mannarwari and Munneswaram. These famous Hindu temples are respected as religious locations of pilgrimage and honour Lord Shiva. After heading to Kandy, you will go on a city tour to see the cultural highlights of the historic city including the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic and the lovely Kandy Lake.
On day 3, you’ll tour from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya making stops along the way to see spiritual sites. You will go to the Hindu temple, Sri Baktha Hanuman Kovil devoted to Lord Hanuman which is well known for its religious importance and tranquil atmosphere. Then you’ll discover the cultural richness and religious depth of Sri Lanka as you travel from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya passing by religious locations steeped in tradition and legend. After that, you could immerse yourself in the mythological story of Seetha Amman Kovil, a temple devoted to the goddess Seetha.
You will discover the beauties of Bandarawela and Nuwara Eliya on the fourth day. After that, you’ll go to Divurumpola, which has a serene, spiritually charged environment and is significant historically and religiously. Also, you will visit Gayathri Pedema, a revered pilgrimage destination for Hindus, particularly those who follow the Shaivite tradition. Take in the verdant tea plantations cascading waterfalls and mist-covered hills. You will enjoy Nuwara Eliya’s conical architecture and cold atmosphere. Bandarawela’s beautiful surroundings and calm environment will enchant you. This is the perfect time to fully immerse yourself in Sri Lanka’s hill country’s stunning scenery and rich cultural heritage.
On this day you will explore Ella, which is well-known for its breathtaking surroundings and gushing waterfalls. See the over 80-meter-high Ravana Falls and the Ravana Caves which are thought to be the King Ravana’s hiding place from the Ramayana tale. After you’ve taken in all of the beauty proceed to Kataragama. This highly significant holy site is revered by Muslims Hindus and Buddhists alike. It is a truly remarkable location.
Early morning, visit the well-known Lord Murugan temple to get a sense of the spiritual atmosphere of Kataragama. Explore the distinctive coastal area of Ussangoda the site of Hanuman’s alleged landing during his quest for Sita. En route to Colombo, stop by the Seenigama Temple in Hikkaduwa and Rumassala Temple in Galle. Once in Colombo visit the Sri Anjaneyar Temple.
